GoHorseShow sat down with up-and coming trainer Missy Thyfault of Shelby, Ohio to find out more about how she got involved with horses, and more about her training philosophy. We enjoy introducing new trainers to our readers and finding out more about people in our industry who may still be under the radar or on the verge of making a name for themselves.

This time--we have decided to interview, Amateur exhibitor, Courtney Ryan, who is a three-time AQHA World Champion and two-time bronze trophy winner to share some tips about how exhibitors can improve their skills in this class.

GoHorseShow regrets to inform our readers that the all-time leading halter point earner, Money Pennys Echo, has passed away. The 1997 chestnut gelding, appropriately known as Hoss, amassed over 1900 halter points in all divisions. He was by A New Legacy and out of MoneyPenny Miss, who is the leading dam of halter point earners.

In 2012 World Champion hunter trainers, David Warner and Lainie DeBoer, are offering a hunter derby series at several AQHA shows throughout the country. The International Hunter Derby was introduced five years ago by a USHJA High Performance Hunter Committee supported by George Morris. The goals of the class were to bring back hunters to their traditional roots of being in a hunt field, improve horsemanship skills, increase spectators, and develop new sponsorship.

Eight young riders piloted their colorful Paint Horses through a complicated drill team pattern. Carrying American flags, the youth kept pace to “It’s a Grand Old Flag” and “God Bless the USA” as they paid tribute to veterans in the finale of the Wounded Warriors –A Tribute To Our American Soldiers event at Sulphur Springs Stables in Inwood, West Virginia.

Jackson, who turns 19 on Tuesday, faces six felony theft charges and was being held on $100,000 bond in the Columbia County jail.
"Not guilty" was the plea entered Wednesday during a first appearance hearing for Jaci Rae Jackson, 19, who is charged with several felony counts relating to the thefts of five horses from the Southern Arkansas University stables on Nov. 3.

GoHorseShow talked to several trainers and judges and asked them whether degree of difficulty in western pleasure should be considered when judging the class. Should a horse that is being shown in a bridle be given more credit than a horse being shown in a hackamore--especially in the Green and Junior Western Pleasure classes? Or is movement the most important aspect?
