The All American Quarter Horse Congress is such a huge event, we need two issues of
GoMag to cover it. September is our Pre-Congress issue and it is chock-full of
the industry's leading horses, breeders, exhibitors and product and
service providers. Not only is this issue a preview of what's to come
in October, but due to the timeliness of our format, this issue also
provided advertisers a chance to let the world know about some of their
summer success stories with results from the leading shows. Go see all
of the people getting a jump on their competition in the
September issue of GoMag.
About The CoverWhistleStop Ranch is headed to the Congress with much excitement. The Congress brings the opportunity for the debut of Ranch's home-grown young stud, Invite MeTo Unzip, a 2008 Mahogany Bay stallion by Invitation Only and out of Zip Zap N Snap. He will be presented by WhistleStop Ranch's Head Trainer, Tony Burris in the Master's Western Pleasure.
The Corea Family, who owns WhistleStop Ranch, raised this young stud. When Tony Burris arrived at the Ranch last fall, he stopped in his tracks and thought that it was, perhaps, one of the finest yearlings he had seen in his now 30 year long career as a horseman. Burris thinks that, "This stud is the kind of horse that any Trainer seeks out to compete with at the top level. He jogs and lopes, plus he's big and strong and pretty. He is one of the better sons of Invitation Only I have ever seen." Associate Trainer Will Burris adds that "He is, without question, a horse trainer's horse".
Ranch owners Jennifer and Tom Corea are particularly excited about how Invite MeTo Unzip has trained up because he represents the first true example of their own designed breeding program. "From the day that colt was born, we have thought he was something very special. From the time he was a baby, his movement has been balanced and cadenced, his mind allows him to be gentle and willing and he is incredible to look at," says Tom Corea.
The "WhistleStop Crew", Head Trainer Tony Burris, Associate Trainers Will Burris, Jamie Keys, Sean Knowles and Lisa Groendyke, will be competing in various open classes, while Jennifer Corea will show Amateur and Non-Pro western pleasure events. The Corea daughters, MaryKate and Lily, are anxiously awaiting showing at the Congress again this year.
