You may remember owner and exhibitor Timorie Budge of Cypress,
California. Years removed from showing, the 48 year-old truly lives a
sweet life. The baking entrepreneur owns four
upscale bakeries in California appropriately named Cinderella Cakes, as
well as her own candy company, Timorie's Candies. We recently spotted
Timorie on Bravo TV's reality show, The Real Housewives of Orange County, and we wanted to see what this former horse show road warrior was up to.
In addition to The Real Housewives of Orange County, Timorie's company has been featured on television shows such as, My Fair Wedding with David Tutera, The Ultimate Cakeoff (where they won the competition) and TLC Fabulous Cakes. Her company's motto is, "Where Flour and Sugar Become Art!" Budge first started off in the cookie business and had a cookie company named, Cookie Creations, but she always wanted to expand her business and create high quality cakes for special occasions.
Due to her work commitments, Budge had to stop showing on the AQHA and NRHA circuit, but she says she misses it very much and would like to show again someday. Timorie had horses with Cleve Wells, Troy Oakley, and Craig Schmersal. Timorie has been a Top 10 Owner at the NRHA Futurity and also did quite well as a non-pro rider. She grew up showing on the open show circuit in California under the supervision of Glen Gimple. Due to her obsessive nature, Budge said that at times she had six or seven horse going down the road to different horse shows across the country. One of her horses was appropriately named, Its Just Cookie Dough.
"I love the horses, but I'm an all or nothing type person and I decided I needed to put all my energy in my cake business," Budge told GoHorseShow. "I love the creativity and seeing an idea come to life. We pride ourselves in our commitment to producing beautiful works of art. I believe our attention to detail and creativity sets us apart from the rest of the competition."
Budge, who says she runs five miles a day to help counter her sweet tooth, says that being on shows like the The Real Housewives of Orange County is a double edged sword. (Pictured left--custom cake for Heather Dubrow on The Real Housewives of Orange County)
"It is a plus because it is like receiving a million dollar commercial spot without paying for it, but some people give you instant validation and think you can do no wrong and never make a mistake when they see you on television," Budge explains. "However, that is obviously not the case, but at the same time, some people try to tear you down and are mean for no valid reason."
Timorie explains that what you see on shows like the The Real Housewives of Orange County is not an accurate portrayal of real life. She says that all of these ladies are a nice fun group of ladies. "Heather on the show is actually a really nice lady, but I can tell you that none of them are speaking to each other at the moment," Budge says laughing.
