UPDATE:  According to the Columbus Dispatch

Did someone steal a trailer full of horses from the Ohio Expo Center? Or did a grumpy owner just not want to wait to head home?

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are looking for a guy who left the Quarter Horse Congress at 11:25 this morning with about 11 horses in a trailer.

Security there verifies that everyone leaving the Expo Center is taking home horses that actually belong to them, said Highway Patrol Sgt. Levente Berry. One guy apparently didn't want to wait.

"The gentleman came by with a trailer full of horses and they asked for his information to get a release, and he was kind of disgruntled and rude, and maybe just having a bad day," Berry said.

The man told security he didn't want to wait, and took off.

"He said they'll see him next year," Berry said.

Highway patrol notified area agencies that they're on the lookout for the driver, to verify that the horses are actually his.

Congress organization a mess
I've been going to Congress for years. This year, it was disorganized, unprofessional and some of the entrants - particularly in Freestyle Reining - didn't belong in a local show, let alone Congress. Wouldn't surprise me at all if someone drove off with a trailer full of horses...this year.

I find it hard to believe that with all the State Hwy Patrol there on the grounds (after all the barracks is right there!) that no one could track him down quicker.
