Courtney Battison Chappell’s great mare, Pure Country Version, died Thursday at the age of twelve after undergoing colic surgery Wednesday evening. “Shania” as she was known by all was a Congress Champion and AQHA World Show Finalist. She earned 168.5 Performance Points and was the dam of 5 foals. Most recently, Shania and Shelby Cochran starred in the 2008 Grand Entry for the Reichert Celebration.
“Shania was my favorite horse, she was really special," said Courtney. "She was loved by a lot of people including Troy Compton’s son Cole who liked to take her along to the horse shows. Shania was the kind of horse you could ride bareback and no halter. She truly was one of a kind and was a great show horse, mother and friend. This morning I had her buried on our ranch in Purcell under a really pretty oak tree next to How D Amos. She leaves behind a Hot N Blazing baby that was born on Valentine’s Day, really cute bay filly. I know she will be greatly missed by all of us. "
