Anne Wilson Repeats As AQHA's Select All-Around Champion

During the last week, the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur contenders competed in a variety of events throughout the American Quarter Horse Association’s 2012 Adequan Select World Championship Show. This year, 63 contenders competed for the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur award.

The 2012 Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Anne Wilson of Dallas who showed Visible Investment, a 2000 bay gelding by Investment Asset and out of Visibly Royal. Visible Investment was bred by Donald Moothart of Fairfield, Iowa. Wilson and Visible Investment earned 50 points competing in five classes. They placed sixth in performance halter geldings, fourth in horsemanship, third in hunt seat equitation and a world championship title in showmanship.

Wilson and Visible Investment received a prize package that included $10,000, plus $1,000 of Farnam products, an original Lisa Perry bronze, an embroidered horse blanket and a rose bouquet.

The 2012 Farnam Select Reserve All-Around Amateur is Lori Bucholz of Waterloo, Nebraska. Bucholz showed her American Quarter Horse, Larks Happy Days, who is a 2002 bay gelding. Larks Happy Days, sired by Rugged Lark and out of Emma Big Leaguer, was bred by Stephen Holloway of Lamar, Arkansas. Bucholz and Larks Happy Days earned 31 points competing in five classes. The pair placed sixth in working hunter, third in pleasure driving, fifth in hunter hack and received the world championship title in equitation over fences.

Bucholz and Larks Happy Days received a prize package of $2,500, plus $500 in Farnam product and a silver bowl.

Christine Hocutt-Senteney of Burbank, California, and her homebred American Quarter Horse, Bellieve Hes Blazing, who is a 1998 brown gelding, were named third Farnam Select All-Around Amateur. Bellieve Hes Blazing is sired by Blazing Hot and out of Bell Of The Barn. They earned a total of 31 points in four classes. The team placed eighth in hunt seat equitation, sixth in western riding and received the world championship title in horsemanship.

Rodger Call of Fort Worth, Texas, and his American Quarter Horse, Go Big Sky, a 2001 grey gelding, were named fourth-place Farnam Select All-Around Amateur, along with the first Farnam Super-Select All-Around Amateur title. The Super-Select All-Around Amateur recognizes the top 70-and-over competitor who is an All-Around Amateur contender at the Adequan Select World. Go Big Sky, sired by Skys Blue Boy and out of Mark Favorite, was bred by Melissa Cason of Bigfork, Montana. Call and Go Big Sky earned a total of 30 points in four classes. The pair placed sixth in equitation over fences and sixth in hunter hack, along with capturing the reserve world champion title in working hunter saddle and the world champion title in pleasure driving.

Dr. Scott Myers of Sharon Center, Ohio, and Capture The Flag were named fifth-place Farnam Select All-Around Amateur. The 2004 black gelding, sired by The Last Captive and out of Magic Image, was bred by Professional Auction Services of Round Hill, Virginia. Dr. Myers and “Radar” earned a total of 26 points in four classes. The team placed fourth in working hunter, equitation over fences and jumping, along with third place in hunter hack.

All-Around Amateur third through fifth place received a prize package that included $1,000, plus $250 in Farnam product.

AQHA celebrated the 10th year of the Adequan Select World, which is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse exhibitors, ages 50 and over, around the world. These exhibitors must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. The 1,273 entries at this year’s event, representing competitors from 40 of the United States, Argentina, Canada and Sweden, competed for 43 world championships.
