Chelinos Mexican (on Meridian in Oklahoma City)

We attended over twenty major show circuits in 2008 and went out to dinner at every single one. With our bank account and waist lines as proof, we can definitely consider ourselves horse show restaurant connoisseurs. Our winning selection isn’t necessarily based on best food, although it’s among the best Mexican we’ve had in the United States. The 2008 winner gets top ranking because it’s that one restaurant you can go to directly from the horse show without needing to clean up first, you will rarely encounter a wait, and there is no shortage of great food and beverages. Don’t confuse Chelinos with one of those chains on “restaurant row” on Meridian. Head a little farther North on Meridian (sounds silly to head North for great Mexican, but trust us) past the On The Border about 2 miles, and you will see the unassuming restaurant on the left on the corner of NW 16th Street. You haven’t lived until you try one of their beers served in a frosty goblet with chunks of lime and salt around the rim. Unfortunately, the next major circuit in OKC is still six months away…not that we’re counting.
